Homeschool Days
Our homeschool classes focus on the diversity and beauty of our Eastern Kentucky landscape. Join us this semester as we explore and learn all about Ornithology, the study of birds, and get to know the scientific method as we learn about our feathered friends. We will have an optional off-campus bonus adventure day and campout to break up our learning mid-semester*. Students will also get to enjoy visiting professor, Dr. David Westneat, setting up nets to catch spring migrants and enjoy up close looks at the birds! From the creeks to the tree tops, we will listen and look for the birds and welcome them back from their wintering grounds as the class ends in the Spring.
We meet on Wednesdays for ten sessions of classes each semester at The Wilds campus, located in Stanton and at W6th Farm in Frankfort beginning Fall 2023. Classes are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed free play at our site until 3 p.m. Classes are available for children from age 5 through high school. Siblings younger than 5 years old are encouraged to enjoy the site with a parent during class time. Note: this is not a drop-off program and parents must stay on site.
To participate in our homeschool program, families must be members. Check out our membership options here: Join Us.
Our homeschool member families also have access to a private Facebook group where we post announcements and discuss each day’s learning objectives and activities.
Our teachers are Tina, Jordan, Stephanie, and Christina. Learn more about them here.
Our other homeschool enrichment opportunities include Forest Friends and our Adventures. Neighborhood Nature is a stimulating do-at-home STEAM curriculum perfect for homeschoolers.
