Welcome to our Red Oaks Community during COVID-19 guide. As COVID-19 has taught us, we must be ready to adapt and pivot. Red Oaks has created a compassionate masking policy that will be guided by your voice. We love our community, and we are optimistic about how we can continue to grow and share a love of what nature can teach us during this time. We aim to provide unique and safe ways to immerse ourselves in nature together and at home.
Fall 2022 highlights
We are excited to offer opportunities to connect with nature for everyone this fall! Some are new, some are familiar, but all are sure to provide a way to stay involved in the Red Oaks community and enjoy the benefits of connecting to nature. Check out more info, including pricing, dates, and times in our Programs section.
New Frankfort Programming – Forest Families is now available in Frankfort! This is a great program to meet others in your community, check out the child-led nature that forms the foundation of our programming, and spend weekly time in nature. Learn more in our programs section under Forest Families.
Conservation Club – This exciting NEW opportunity is part of an effort to connect conservation-minded teens and give them the chance to work together to develop and implement plans to help conserve local resources. This will be student-led and organized. Students will help to decide when and where to meet so please email us at registration@redoaksforestschool.org to be added to the list and someone will contact you soon!
Adventure Club – Campouts are back! We will be headed to Carter Caves this fall. Campouts are for members and we do offer some gear to support any families new to camping. Learn more in our programs section.
Taking Flight Next Level - This Saturday morning class is exclusively for teens and offers exciting opportunities to have hands-on experience with wildlife and develop student-led research. Learn more about this program in the programs section.
Fall 2022 Virtual program highlights
Neighborhood Nature – In this program, we'll explore the species diversity and fascinating ecology of our own backyards – and front yards, sidewalks, and anywhere else we can go – learning about the creatures who live there, the systems that govern them, and practical ways to help improve habitat.
Each topic will include a variety of STEAM (a blending of science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities and are adaptable to a wide age range. Learn more about this program and start exploring at home here.
Safety Protocol
To ensure safety, we have implemented new safety protocols that must be respected to participate. Hand-washing stations are available throughout our campus and hand washing is encouraged for all. Do not attend a session if you are feeling sick or have experienced symptoms in the last week. We will work with you to issue credits and refunds if anyone in your party feels sick to encourage everyone to stay home if they are feeling unwell as needed. Our compassionate masking policy is currently guided by participants on a program by program basis. Please inquire for more information. Thank you for your understanding as we get through this together!
